30 años despues de su disco "Concerto for Group & Orchestra", Deep Purple vuelve al Royal Albert Hall para grabar esta revisión de la idea origianl. Y es que 30 años, son muchos años para cualquiera, incluso para esta banda que aun sonando bastante afinada y en forma, ha perdido algo del punch que tenían antaño, y sobre todo la ausencia de su formación de Blackmore, aunque Steve Morse esta bastante correcto en este disco. El disco esta grabado en vivo en Septiembre del 99, en dos días diferentes, el 25 y el 26 de dicho mes. Como anecdota,los conciertos fueron beneficos y toda su recaudacion fue a para a la Nordoff-Robbins Trust. El Royal Albert Hall es otro miembro más de la banda en esta ocasión, pues confiere una sonoridad especial a la banda e impregna el ambiente de complicidad que tiene la banda con su público. Este escenario de grandes conciertos, ha dado muchas grabaciones clásicas en la historia del rock y en esta ocasión proporciona el ambiente y la magia necesaria para un disco en directo con una gran orquesta.
